Nintendo revealed that TMNT Splintered Fate, an action roguelike, will launch as a limited-time console exclusive on the Switch in July during this week’s Indie World Showcase. With iconic weapons and one-of-a-kind, upgradeable special moves, everyone’s favorite half-shell heroes—Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, and Michelangelo—fight off hordes of Foot Clan members in the announcement trailer for the upcoming game, which the company shared below.

Heroes in a Roguelike
The heroes in Splintered Fate are on a mission to rescue Master Splinter but are in a half-shell. They will need to defeat waves of adversaries, such as the Foot Clan, Mousers, Rocksteady, Bebop, and of course, Shredder, to accomplish just that. The four artists—Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo, and Raphael—have a signature weapon and special skills. Donatello’s bo staff, for instance, has the longest range of any weapon, but Raph’s sais increases his ability to deal critical damage.
Players can get various upgrades for their Turtle as they explore, such as enhanced health and new powers. Many of these will be destroyed at the end of a run in Splintered Fate because it is a roguelike game, but there will also be permanent upgrades. These can be bought back at the sewer lair with Dragon Coins, an in-game currency that can be acquired as the game progresses. Certain roguelike games can be quite annoying because players must replay previously finished stages, but as they gain permanent upgrades via Dragon Coins, the difficulty of the locations gets easier.
