Gameplay
In Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, players take control of Goro Majima and explore four distinct locations: Honolulu, the main setting of Infinite Wealth; Madlantis, a secret island frequented by pirates and criminals; Nele Island, the base of the Palekana religious group; and Rich Island, a remote island near Hawaii.
The beat ’em up combat system used by Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii is similar to that of previous Like a Dragon games. Majima can choose between two fighting styles: Sea Dog, which enables Majima to use dual cutlasses and pistols along with other pirate weapons, and Mad Dog, which is her trademark speed-focused style. The ability to jump and execute mid-air combos is a recent addition to the combat system.
In addition to standard combat, players can upgrade their ship, the Goromaru, and put together a pirate crew. This allows them to explore the open ocean and fight other pirate ships. Players can board enemy ships to fight their crew and defeat their captain, and ship combat occurs in real-time.
Several minigames from earlier Like a Dragon games, including Dragon Kart, Crazy Delivery, and Karaoke, are back in Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii. Additionally, Majima recruits “Minato Ward girls” to hang out with Masaru Fujita, one of the game’s characters, in a brand-new side activity called Masaru’s Love Journey.
